Things You'll Want:
Screwdriver
Garden hose
No-rinse HVAC cleaner
Coil clean (optional)
1 Turn off the energy supply to the air conditioner.
2 Remove the cover or housing from the air conditioner with any screwdriver. Refer to the owner's manual to location of the screws and type of screwdriver. If you're cleaning any window unit, have it exterior onto any flat area.
3 Position the coils inside the air conditioner. Spray the coils with a garden hose to rinse away extra dirt plus debris. Carry care not to bend the fins by means of high pressure water, also avoid spraying any electrical components.
4 Spray the coils comprehensively with HVAC cleaner, and scrub the coils with a coil brush if necessary.
5 Replace the cover or housing and turn on the power supply.
